Basic Emergency Care Course and Train-the-Trainer Session Conducted at RTEH, Muzaffargarh

Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) Muzaffargarh recently concluded a 5-day Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Course, providing a comprehensive training opportunity for healthcare professionals. The course, which covered essential emergency care techniques, also featured a “Train-the-Trainer” component, empowering participants to disseminate their knowledge further in their networks.

Distinguished facilitators including one Faculty Member from USA led the sessions: Dr. Maham Munawar- Consultant Emergency Medicine, University of Pennsylvania USA; Dr. Nayab Khan – Emergency Department, The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus; Dr. Asif Yaseen – RTEH, Muzaffargarh; Dr. Saira Gulrukh- Emergency Department, The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus, Karachi; Mr. Abid Ali – Clinical Nursing Instructor, The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus, Karachi; and Dr. Saba Aslam, RETH, Muzaffargarh.

The course curriculum included a wide range of topics including Introductory Session (to establishing the foundational principles of emergency care); ABCDE Approach (A systematic method for assessing and managing patients); BEC Medication (to understanding and administering Basic Emergency Care medications); Breathing (Techniques for managing respiratory distress),Shock (Identification and appropriate responses to shock cases); Transfer & Handover (Ensuring seamless transitions and effective communication during patient transfers); and Trauma (to Deal with trauma cases efficiently and effectively).

Participants in the BEC Course included doctors and nurses from RTEH, Multan Institute of Kidney Disease, and Social Security Hospital in Muzaffargarh. All actively engaged in practical demonstrations, interactive discussions, and case-based learning.

Notably, the training extended beyond traditional coursework, incorporating a “Train-the-Trainer” session. Dr. Saba Aslam helped impart valuable knowledge to others in their respective healthcare settings.

The BEC Course Train-the-Trainer Session represent a significant step towards enhancing emergency care capabilities in Muzaffargarh and other areas in Punjab, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development among healthcare professionals.
