“October” Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Raises Awareness in Women

In a remarkable initiative, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh is observing “October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” The campaign organized by the hospital’s General Surgery Department, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer among women.

Dr. Sana Ehsan, a passionate Post Graduate Resident- General Surgery (PGR) along with Dr Mahnoor and Dr Saima, stand at the forefront of this campaign. She tirelessly spends her days educating numerous women about breast cancer. The General Surgery Department has set up eye-catching stall adorned with informative banners and pamphlets, providing women patients with essential knowledge about breast cancer through various mediums.

Dr. Irfan Javed, the Head of Campus, praised these efforts, emphasizing that Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital not only delivers quality care free of cost, but also actively participates in raising public awareness about various diseases. Speaking specifically about breast cancer, he highlighted the alarming statistic that more than a hundred thousand women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Pakistan annually, and fifty percent of these patients succumbing to the disease. Dr. Irfan Javed underscored the critical importance of timely diagnosis, pointing out that when detected early, ninety percent of breast cancer cases can be effectively treated, negating the need for mastectomy.

Doctors at the stall have emphasized the significance of disseminating this message to all women. Early diagnosis is the most effective way to combat breast cancer. Complete and timely treatment not only saves lives but also ensures that patients can undergo treatment without undergoing the trauma of mastectomy.
