The Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) takes great pride in joining the esteemed St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Global Alliance. In doing so IHHN joins more than 180 reputable members from more than 68 countries worldwide. As IHHN continues to build on its extensive network and strong presence around Pakistan as a leader in the field of healthcare and social development, this membership signifies more than just a partnership; it signifies an opportunity for international networking and support, educational growth, and the inspiration of a globally shared mission – to discover cures and save children, everywhere.
IHHN’s participation in the St. Jude Global Alliance signifies a significant step forward in the organization’s mission, further strengthening its commitment to advancing pediatric healthcare on a global scale and contributing to the noble cause of serving children in need.
St. Jude Global Alliance is a global movement in pediatric cancer that brings together individuals and institutions dedicated to the shared vision of improving the quality of healthcare delivery and increasing survival rates of children with cancer and blood disorders worldwide.
Becoming a global foundation partner within this alliance is an honor that involves a rigorous process; partners must undergo assessment, recommendation, and sponsorship by ALSAC (American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities), the fundraising and awareness organization affiliated with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Directly in line with IHHN’s vision of providing indiscriminate free-of-cost excellence in healthcare for all, the members of the Alliance support the belief that every child, everywhere deserves the chance to live regardless of race, religion, or the ability to pay.
About IHHN
Since its inception, IHHN’s network has grown throughout Pakistan and guided by its six strategic strands, is working to deliver quality healthcare absolutely free to populations far and wide and uplift the healthcare facilities in these areas through quality education, training, and leading cutting-edge research. In line with its goal to build alliances and partnerships for sustainable resource generation, IHHN has partnered with various humanitarian organizations like St. Jude, and government bodies, integrating a multisectoral approach to ensure the most effective usage of combined resources for men, women, and children in need.
Today IHHN is benefiting over 6 million patients yearly and has worked extensively to provide holistic care to children with cancer. Over 8,000 children in Pakistan are diagnosed with cancer annually, a number not including those lacking access to quality diagnostic and cancer services. The Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (PHO) at Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus stands as a Centre of Excellence offering free-of-cost quality childhood care with both curative and palliative intent. This 85-bed facility is one of the largest pediatric oncology units in Pakistan, registering over 1,100 new cases every year from various parts of the country and Afghanistan. To date, IHHN has treated over 12,000 children for cancer and blood diseases.
In an effort to alleviate the financial challenges associated with travel and to extend support to children and their caregivers who cannot journey to Karachi, IHHN established a pediatric oncology unit at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital, Quetta as well as basic facilities in District Headquarter Hospital, Badin. Managed by IHHN these facilities guarantee a smooth and all-encompassing treatment approach, ensuring that every child diagnosed with cancer receives the best possible care, including mental health counseling, thereby increasing their chances of overcoming the disease and securing a promising future ahead.
