IHHN Marks World Physical Therapy Day, Highlighting the Power of Movement and Rehabilitation

Karachi: Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) celebrated World Physical Therapy Day 2026 on Tuesday, September 8, under the theme, “The Role of Physiotherapy and Physical Activity in the Prevention, Management, and Rehabilitation of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke.”

The event featured welcome remarks by Prof. Dr. Amin Chinoy, Executive Director, IHHN, who highlighted the organization’s achievements and commitment to physical rehabilitation. Dr. Shafiq Haider, Campus Head, IHHN Korangi, also addressed the gathering.

The first major session, Stroke & Neuro Rehabilitation, featured Dr. Bushra Ammad Taimuri, Neurologist, who discussed the role of physical activity in stroke prevention, neurological health, and rehabilitation. Dr. Qasim Raza PT, Lead Physiotherapist, IHHN, spoke about stroke rehabilitation and the introduction of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) at IHHN, along with a patient success story.

The Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation/ICU session was presented by Dr. Nargis Khan PT, Lead Physiotherapist, IHHN, who highlighted the importance of pulmonary rehabilitation and shared a patient success story.

The program continued with a Gynae & Women’s Health Rehabilitation session featuring Dr. Brig. Mubushra Samina, Gynecologist, who discussed the impact of physical inactivity on women’s reproductive, hormonal, and overall health. Dr. Faiza Ahmed PT, Lead Physiotherapist, IHHN, discussed special considerations in pre-natal, postpartum, and pre-operative gynecological care, along with a patient success story.

An Academic Address was delivered by Dr. Farrukh Siddique, Principal, Indus College of Physical Therapy & Rehab, focusing on the future of physiotherapy education, emerging trends, essential skills, technology, and preparing the next generation of physiotherapists.

Special remarks were also shared by Dr. Dabeer Ahmed Khan, Special Assistant to the Health Minister Sindh.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, certificate distribution, and cake cutting led by Dr. Farah Naz, followed by a networking lunch.

The event brought together healthcare professionals, physiotherapists, academics, students, and dignitaries to recognize the evolving role of physiotherapy and emphasize the importance of movement, prevention, and rehabilitation in improving health and quality of life.
