Meezan Bank Clinches IHHN’s 6th Corporate Cricket Championship 2026 for Second Consecutive Year

The Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) successfully concluded its 6th Corporate Cricket Championship 2026 in Karachi, with Meezan Bank winning the championship for the second consecutive year after defeating Habib Metro Bank by 14 runs in a thrilling final. The Karachi tournament marked the first leg of IHHN’s five-city fundraising series in support of its Pediatric Hematology & Oncology services.

The championship kicked off on August 29, 2026, with former Pakistan cricket team captain Moin Khan as the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony, accompanied by cricketer Mr. Azam Khan. The closing ceremony was attended by IHHN President & CEO Dr. Abdul Bari Khan and former Test cricketer Mr. Tauseef Ahmed as Chief Guests. IHHN Corporate Ambassador Mr. Dr. Danish Aman and KATI Vice President Mr.Zahid Hameed also attended the event as Guests of Honour..

Featuring a six-over tape-ball knockout format, the championship brought together leading corporate organizations for an engaging sporting competition while creating a meaningful platform for corporate sector participation in support of childhood cancer care. The tournament highlighted how sport and corporate social responsibility can come together to create a positive impact on the lives of children and families in need.

The Karachi leg featured 12 corporate teams, including Meezan Bank, Spursol, Allied Logistics, Rajby Textile, Jubilee, Tata Pakistan, GRIPP, Adamjee Textile, Global Radiance Group, AJM Pharma, DIB, and HMB. Their participation demonstrated the commitment of the corporate sector to supporting healthcare initiatives and contributing to a meaningful cause through CSR engagement. The primary objective of the Corporate Cricket Championship is to mobilize funds for IHHN’s Pediatric Hematology & Oncology services, which provide free, comprehensive cancer care to children regardless of their financial circumstances. Since 2014, IHHN’s Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Department has treated more than 16,000 children. Around 1,300 children are currently receiving active treatment, while more than 1,315 new childhood cancer cases were registered over the past year. The department also provided more than 40,000 pediatric oncology OPD visits and 11,247 emergency consultations during the year.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, IHHN President & CEO Dr. Abdul Bari Khan expressed his gratitude to the corporate sector for its continued support and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in helping children affected by cancer.

I am deeply grateful to all our corporate partners, participating teams, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters for standing with us and supporting our mission to provide free and comprehensive cancer care to children,” said Dr. Abdul Bari Khan.

Former Test cricketer Touseef Ahmed also emphasized the importance of continued support for IHHN’s healthcare mission, saying, “Every possible support should continue for Indus Hospital so that the lives of innocent children affected by cancer can be saved.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, former Pakistan captain Moin Khan had also encouraged support for IHHN’s efforts, saying, “Indus is doing excellent work. Everyone should support Indus Hospital in providing treatment to children affected by cancer.”

The Corporate Cricket Championship is part of IHHN’s five-city fundraising series, with the remaining legs scheduled to take place in Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and Faisalabad. Funds raised through all stages of the championship will support IHHN’s Pediatric Hematology & Oncology services, helping strengthen access to timely, quality, and compassionate cancer care for children in need.
