UN Delegation Visits Indus Hospital & Health Network to Strengthen Collaboration for Health Equity

Strategic partnerships play a vital role in expanding access to quality healthcare and creating meaningful, lasting impact. In this spirit, a high level United Nations delegation visited the Indus Hospital & Health Network Korangi Campus Karachi, where senior leadership engaged with the delegation on health equity, collaboration, and the shared vision of a healthier Pakistan.

Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President & CEO IHHN, along with Dr. Mah Talat, Executive Director, Community Health Directorate, IHHN, welcomed the delegation led by Mr. Mohamed Yahya, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan.

The delegation included Ms. Afke Bootsman, Head of the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, Pakistan; Mr. Prem Chand Bahadur, Chief Field Officer, UNICEF Sindh,  Mr. Imran Khan Laghari, Provincial Coordinator, United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO), Sindh, and Dr. Mukhtiar Bhayo, Provincial Head, WHO Sindh.

During a guided tour of the Korangi Campus, the delegation witnessed IHHN’s patient centred approach and interacted with children and patients receiving rehabilitation, cochlear implant, and cancer care. The visit provided an opportunity to observe firsthand the impact of accessible, quality healthcare on patients and their families, while highlighting the importance of ensuring that essential health services reach communities in need.

The delegation was also briefed on IHHN’s broader healthcare initiatives across Pakistan, including clinical and primary healthcare services, community outreach, healthcare professional training, and efforts to expand access to essential healthcare for underserved populations.

The engagement served as an opportunity to strengthen dialogue between IHHN and the United Nations on areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration. The discussions underscored a shared commitment to advancing health equity, upholding human dignity, and working collectively towards a healthier Pakistan.

The visit reaffirmed the importance of strategic partnerships in addressing healthcare challenges and ensuring that quality healthcare remains accessible to those who need it most.
