Clinical Nutrition Department Launches Inaugural Pediatric Nutrition Certification Course at Indus Hospital & Health Network

The Clinical Nutrition Department at Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) has successfully launched its first-ever Pediatric Nutrition Certification Course, marking a significant milestone in the department’s academic initiatives. The inaugural cohort comprises 24 healthcare professionals/participants enrolled in a six-month hybrid certification program featuring six online modules and two onsite hands-on training sessions.

To date, participants have successfully completed three online modules covering

1. Complementary Feeding & Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF)
2. Anthropometric Assessment and Growth Monitoring, and
3. Inpatient Management of Malnutrition,

followed by the successful commencement of the first onsite practical session. The program is designed to strengthen evidence-based pediatric nutrition knowledge and clinical skills among dietitians, pediatricians, family physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

The course is accredited by Indus University of Health Sciences (IUHS) and is being conducted in collaboration with the Pakistan Nutrition and Dietetic Society (PNDS), offering 12 Continuing Nutrition Education (CNE) credit hours to participants.

The program is supervised by Dr. Saba Shahid, Chair of Pediatric Services, whose guidance has been instrumental in bringing this initiative to fruition. The course is directed by Ms. Munazza Ahmed, Senior Clinical Dietitian, who led the development, planning, coordination, and execution of this inaugural certification program.

The successful progress of the course reflects the Clinical Nutrition Department’s commitment to advancing professional capacity, promoting evidence-based pediatric nutrition practices, and fostering interdisciplinary learning to improve child health outcomes in Pakistan
