Courage in a Crib: Anabiya’s Fight for Her Future.

When baby Anabiya was born, her parents, Hassan and Fatima, were overjoyed. She was their first child, a beautiful little girl who brought happiness into their world. But just a few months later, things started to change. Anabiya wasn’t eating well, she had a fever, and blood in her urine. Her worried parents took her to a doctor, who told them something they never expected: Anabiya might have a kidney tumor.

“I still remember when the doctor said it,” Fatima shared. “It felt like the ground disappeared beneath me. I couldn’t breathe.”

Desperate for help, they brought Anabiya to Indus Hospital in Korangi. That’s where they learned the truth: Anabiya didn’t have a tumor. She had only one kidney, and it wasn’t working properly. She was going through kidney failure.

The doctors told them she needed Peritoneal Dialysis, a treatment that helps clean the blood when the kidneys can’t. It had to be done every single hour. “I never thought babies could go through something like this,” Fatima said. “But we had to be strong for Anabiya.”

The team at Indus Hospital trained Fatima for 20 days so she could take care of Anabiya’s dialysis at home. Everything was provided free of cost medicines, supplies, even food for Anabiya. “I didn’t have to worry about a single rupee,” Fatima said. “Indus took care of everything.”

Today, Anabiya is 3.5 years old. She’s full of life and joy. She loves watching cartoons on YouTube, eating chips, and singing little songs. She still needs dialysis every 1.5 hours and visits the Indus Hospital every month for checkups. But she also gets to play with other children in the pediatric play area and study at Indus Kay Sitaray.

Even after all she’s been through, Anabiya always smiles at her doctors and greets them happily. She’s a fighter, full of hope and light. Hassan and Fatima are deeply thankful to Indus Hospital and to everyone who donates to help children like Anabiya.
