Raising Awareness on World TB Day Across IHHN Primary Care Sites

On the occasion of World TB Day, the Community Health Directorate (CHD) at Indus Hospital & Health Network led a series of impactful awareness activities to educate communities about Tuberculosis (TB) and promote early detection and prevention.

Aligned with the global theme “Yes! We can end TB through local action,” CHD teams organized dedicated commemoration and educational sessions across 22 Primary Care Program sites. Key locations included Shadilarge, Korangi, Bhong, Shah Jamal, Jubilee Town Lahore, Samundari, Kot Addu, Baba Island, Gurmani, and Rakh Azmat—ensuring widespread outreach at the grassroots level.

To create a unified and visually engaging environment, healthcare workers and community engagement teams dressed in red, white, and black attire, symbolizing solidarity in the fight against TB. Clinics were transformed into vibrant awareness spaces, featuring face painting activities, informative posters, and the distribution of specially designed TB awareness stickers to engage patients and visitors.

Throughout the day, CHD teams directly engaged with approximately 300 community members, focusing on:

Educating individuals on the early signs and symptoms of TB
Highlighting the importance of timely diagnosis and strict treatment adherence
Promoting preventive measures to safeguard vulnerable families
Addressing and reducing the stigma associated with TB to encourage early healthcare-seeking behavior

By combining community engagement with clear, accessible health education, CHD reinforced the message that awareness is the first step toward disease elimination. These efforts contribute to national initiatives aimed at controlling and ultimately eradicating TB in Pakistan.

The Community Health Directorate takes pride in its frontline teams for leading these meaningful interactions and driving positive change at the community level. Together, we move closer to building a healthier, TB-free Pakistan.
