Igniting the Next Generation of Biomedical Engineers

Karachi — October 22, 2025: Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) hosted final-year students and a faculty member from Salim Habib University for an insightful industrial visit to its Biomedical Engineering (BMED) Department. The visit, focused on imaging modalities, provided students a hands-on learning experience to bridge academic knowledge with practical industry applications.

The session was organized by the BMED team on the request of Salim Habib University’s management. During the visit, the students explored X-ray machines, CT and MRI scanners, and echocardiography systems. They learned about the working principles, technical specifications, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols that ensure smooth and safe hospital operations. Senior Engineer Hafiz Ahsan Tahir Awan, Assistant Manager Sadia Saleem, and Engineer Muzammil Ahmed facilitated the tour, sharing valuable insights and practical expertise.

This initiative reflects IHHN’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and professional development. By opening its doors to students, IHHN continues to promote academic-industry collaboration, helping young engineers understand the critical role of biomedical technology in patient care and healthcare innovation.

Muhammad Wasim Munir, Assistant Professor at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Salim Habib University, appreciated the visit, stating that it was a highly informative and inspiring experience. He commended the hospital’s free-of-cost healthcare model, high hygiene standards, and advanced diagnostic systems. He also praised the professionalism and technical expertise of the Biomedical Engineering team, including Engr. Abdul Mujeeb Khalili, Engr. Hafiz Ahsan Tahir, Engr. Sadia, and Engr. Muzammil Ahmed. “Their commitment to quality healthcare technology management provided valuable insight for our students,” he shared.

Doaa Javed, a final-year Biomedical Engineering student, expressed her gratitude, describing the visit as an informative and valuable learning experience. She highlighted how the session deepened her understanding of the practical aspects of biomedical equipment such as Echo, X-ray, MRI, and CT machines, while appreciating the team’s hospitality and guidance throughout the visit.
