GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital holds Breast Cancer awareness session

GDA Pak-China Friendship Hospital, managed by Indus Hospital & Health Network, organized a breast cancer awareness session on October 9, 2025, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The session, arranged by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, aimed to educate patients and accompanying women about the importance of early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer.

The session was chaired by Dr. Farida Shah, Senior Medical Officer of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, who highlighted that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women but is highly treatable when diagnosed at an early stage. She explained the potential warning signs, including the presence of a lump, changes in breast size or shape, and alterations in the skin. Dr. Farida emphasized that every woman should learn and regularly practice breast self-examination and also encouraged women above 40, or those with a family history of breast cancer, to undergo screening tests such as mammography.

At the end of the session, educational brochures containing easy-to-understand information about the symptoms, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer were distributed among participants. The hospital administration reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such awareness sessions to ensure that vital health information reaches every segment of society, thereby contributing to the development of a healthier and more informed community.
