Pakistan’s First National Electronic Health Records Conference Opens at Indus Hospital & Health Network, Lahore

Indus Hospital & Health Network inaugurated Pakistan’s first-ever Electronic Health Records (EHR) Conference 2025 on Friday, September 12, at The Indus Hospital, Jubilee Town Campus, Lahore. Themed “EHR in Pakistan and the Way Forward,” the two-day event has brought together healthcare leaders, policymakers, technologists, and researchers from across the country and abroad to shape the future of digital health in Pakistan.

Addressing the inaugural, Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, Founder of IHHN, remarked: “At Indus Hospital, we believe that embracing digital innovation is key to transforming healthcare in Pakistan. The EHR Conference is not just a milestone—it represents our collective step into a smarter, data-driven future.”

Following the inauguration and keynote by Ms. Tania Aidrus, the scientific program began with specialized workshops on clinical documentation, ICD-based coding, leveraging AI for EHR, continuous quality improvement, and advanced analytics. Day One concluded with inaugural speeches, the keynote, and a networking dinner.

Day Two opened with a documentary on electronic medical records and continued with sessions on “Enhancing Healthcare Through Medical Coding and EHR,” “Secure Digital Foundations: HMIS Implementation, Data Management, Interoperability and Privacy Protocols,” and “Digital Transformation and AI.” Speakers from IHHN, WHO, SKMCH, Shifa International, Hudson Regional Health System, Novacare Hospitals, LUMS, PharmEvo, and other institutions addressed critical topics ranging from cancer surveillance and hospital-based registries to patient data protection, interoperability, and real-world evidence.

High-level panel discussions featured experts including Dr. Faisal Sultan (CEO, SKMCH), Mr. Taimoor (COO, Shifa International), Prof. Omer Awwab Khan (Riphah International University Hospital), and others, who deliberated on unified data standards, healthcare process automation, AI in healthcare, and the future of EHR adoption. Exhibitions and live demos of HMIS 2.0, ICD-10 software, AMCT training, and BPIR/IBPC showcased innovations in health information systems.

The EHR Conference 2025 marks a historic step forward in Pakistan’s healthcare journey, with IHHN leading the national dialogue on digital transformation. The event concludes on September 13 with closing remarks, a summary video, and a vote of thanks, setting the tone for unified efforts toward building a secure, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare ecosystem in the country.
