Indus Hospital & Health Network (IHHN) and Salim Habib University (SHU) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration in pharmacy education and training
The MOU was signed by Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President IHHN, and Professor Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Vice Chancellor SHU. The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished representatives from both institutions.
Representing IHHN were Professor Dr. Syed Zafar Zaidi, CEO; Dr. Muhammad Shamvil Ashraf, Executive Director, Medical Services; Dr. Asher Alam, Medical Director, Karachi; Dr. Aslam Shah, Chief of Pharmacy Services; and Dr. Arif Ali Arain, Head of Pharmacy Services.
From SHU, attendees included Dr. Muhammad Hussain Habib, Registrar; Professor Noor Kamal, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy; and Ms. Pari Wash Khan, Deputy Registrar.
This strategic partnership aims to provide pharmacy graduates from SHU with hands-on training, mentorship, and observership opportunities under the guidance of IHHN’s experienced pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, and clinical pharmacy specialists. By bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world hospital pharmacy practices, the collaboration will enhance students’ clinical and operational competencies.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Abdul Bari Khan emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing pharmacy education and healthcare delivery. He highlighted that this MOU will pave the way for future collaborations between IHHN and SHU, ensuring that pharmacy graduates are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge required to excel in their field.
This agreement marks a significant step in fostering academic-industry linkages, ultimately benefiting both students and the healthcare sector in Pakistan.
