RTEH Muzaffargarh Conducts Free Spine, Knee Replacement, and Sports Surgeries in Collaboration with American Surgeons

In a remarkable commitment to healthcare excellence, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH) Muzaffargarh has successfully conducted 89 high-cost surgeries, including 57 total knee replacements, 22 spine surgeries, and 10 sports surgeries, entirely free of charge. These life-changing procedures were performed by a team of American surgeons in collaboration with RTEH’s dedicated orthopedic team.

In a country where even basic healthcare remains a challenge, advanced procedures such as spine surgeries and knee replacements often seem unattainable dreams. However, Indus Hospital & Health Network, in partnership with Goda Organization USA, has turned this dream into reality for underprivileged patients. For the past three years, RTEH has been hosting an annual Spine and Arthroplasty Week, ensuring that deserving individuals receive these expensive treatments at no cost.

Throughout the year, RTEH’s orthopedic team meticulously diagnoses, tests, and prepares patients for these complex surgeries. Simultaneously, the American surgeons facilitate the procurement of essential surgical implants. Last week, a distinguished team of 10 American surgeons arrived at RTEH, joining hands with local experts to perform these life-transforming procedures.

Dr. Khalid Yousuf, the lead of the visiting American team, expressed his deep satisfaction in serving the patients at RTEH. He emphasized that amidst the arid landscape of Muzaffargarh, this hospital stands as a beacon of hope, offering comprehensive healthcare services free of cost. He felt privileged to contribute to this noble cause.

Dr. Shafeeq Haider, CEO of Indus Hospital & Health Network (North), extended heartfelt gratitude to the surgeons for their unwavering support. He highlighted the importance of training local doctors in these advanced surgical techniques, ensuring long-term sustainability in providing high-quality care. As a token of appreciation, commemorative shields were presented to the visiting surgeons.

Dr. Irfan Javed, Head of Campus, lauded both the American surgical team and RTEH’s orthopedic department for their tireless efforts. He acknowledged their year-long dedication, which culminated in providing free, life-changing surgeries to the most vulnerable patients.

Expressing their gratitude, Head of the Orthopedic Department, Dr. Hassan Raza, and Dr. Gauhar Nawaz Khan reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing collaboration, aiming to expand the number of surgeries in the coming years.

The impact of these surgeries has been profound. Mr. Aswand Khan from Dera Ghazi Khan, who once thought knee replacement was beyond his reach, is now on his way to recovery. Azeeq-ur-Rehman, a 34-year-old Imam Masjid with severe spinal issues, found hope at RTEH when he was contacted for surgery. Today, he is regaining his health. Similarly, Waziran Mai from D.G. Khan, previously unable to walk, can now move independently, thanks to the hospital’s efforts. Mushtaq Ahmed from Sanawan, bedridden due to a spinal injury sustained at work, is now reclaiming his normal life.
