Celebrity actress Reema visited the Indus Hospital in March of 2016. She was honored with a tour of the Hospital, visiting patients from the various wards to convey her supplication. She enjoyed the occasion with photo sessions with the patients.
The Indus Hospital organized a charity golf tournament at the Karachi Golf Club Karsaz, the event took place on the 22nd of Febraury 2016 with the slogan “Golf can save lives”. The event had 100 golfers participate with various Board of Directors attending as guests. The event was hosted by club secretary Commodore Majid Iqbal and started off with an inaugural speech from Mr. Pervaiz Ahmed. The event continued with speeches from Mr. Abdul Kareem Paracha and Dr. Abdul Bari Khan. The 1st fundraiser of its kind concluded with Commodore Majid Iqbal offering prizes to the victors of the tournament.
Celebrity actor and director Moammar Rana hosted his birthday at The Indus Hospital, February 2016. Mr. Rana was uninformed of the hospitalâ€™s existence, but when he brought in a patient and offered to pay in full he was pleasantly surprised to find out the hospital operated at no cost to the ailing. The birthday celebration was an event that also commemorated the Hospital and its philanthropic service to the people of Karachi. Mr. Rana enjoyed the occasion with young patients from the childrenâ€™s ward and held a brief press event afterwards.
The Hospital would be allotted an 80 Kanal area of land for aÂ fully equipped Research hospital to be opened in Peshawar. KP Chief Minister Pervez Khatak arranged for an additional 20 Kanal to be dedicated to a fully fledged Neuro-Surgery department, making a total of 100 Kanal area of land. The CEO of the Indus Hospital Dr Abdul Bari Khan stated that a plan had already been drafted for the hospital and construction would begin as soon as allotted land was handed over to the The Indus Hospital. The government authorities requested a formal agreement on paper be made for The Indus Hospitalâ€™s promise of providing all services free of cost, regardless of their knowledge of the Hospitalâ€™s mission, in order to formalize TIHâ€™s commitment to providing free services.
The Indus Hospital organized a family carnival at the PAF Museum on the 7thÂ of February 2016. The carnivalâ€™s main aim was to raise awareness regarding the hospitalâ€™s mission and appeal to attendees to come together as donors supporting the noble cause. Dr. Abdul Bari Khan himself was present at the occasion, commenting, â€œIt is truly a delight to see people coming and enjoying themselves while at the same time contributing towards the cause that the hospital was built upon.â€ In addition to the carnival, Pakistani cricketer Younis Khanâ€™s bat was auctioned off for Rs. 2 million to an individual who preferred his name be withheld. The cricketer himself was present for the auction along with celebrity Zeba Bakhtiar. They visited every stall at the carnival to demonstrate their support.
