San Diego Zoo Kids TV Begins Broadcasting at Indus Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan

San Diego Zoo Kids, a closed-circuit television adventure channel, has begun broadcasting at The Indus Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. San Diego Zoo Kids is an innovative television channel with programs produced primarily for medical facilities that serve pediatric patients and their families. San Diego Zoo Kids’ programming provides family friendly, animal-oriented stories that are both entertaining and educational.

Second cohort of the Diploma in Infection Control Graduated

The second cohort of the one-year Diploma in Infection Control graduated on July 12, 2019. The one of its kind program, where students could attend the program in-class or online, was initiated by the Infection Control Department at Indus Hospital in 2017. The program aimed to train healthcare professionals to lead and implement a comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies in integrated healthcare facilities. This year the program was simultaneously conducted at Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus in Karachi and at Indus Hospital, Manawan Campus in Lahore, and only male and female staff nurses participated in the course. A total of 45 students, out of which 12 nurses in Karachi and 33 nurses in Lahore, received their Diplomas at the two ceremonies held in both cities. Blood Bank at Civil Hospital, Thatta now functional under the management of Indus Hospital

Government of Sindh under the public-private partnership mandate commissioned the Regional Blood Center (RBC) at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro with six associated Hospital-based Blood Banks (HBB) in September 2018 to the Indus Hospital (TIH). Out of the six, three blood banks have been functional in Jamshoro, Hyderabad and Badin. Recently the fourth Blood Bank at Civil Hospital in Thatta, a 188-bed hospital with an annual estimated loads of more than 6,000 bags per year, was operationalised by TIH. With this the RBC, Jamshoro has become the only Center across Pakistan with four operational blood banks in a short period of one year. The RBC, Jamshoro and its associated Blood Banks also aims at mobilizing the public towards 100% voluntary blood donations.
