At the tender age of 3, Khalid was diagnosed with Wilms tumor, a type of cancer that spreads in the kidneys and predominantly affects children. He belongs to Afghanistan, but his father brought him to Indus Hospital and Health Network in Korangi, Karachi for his treatment.
