IHHN’s Community Health Directorate Celebrates International Nurses Day 2023
Undoubtedly after the pandemic, the nursing profession across the globe has emerged as a vital backbone for the healthcare system. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) announced the theme for International Nurses Day (IND) 2023: Our Nurses. Our Future. Aligning with this theme, it is crucial to learn from the lessons of the pandemic and translate these into actions for the future to ensure nurses are protected, respected, and valued.
This year, to celebrate IND, the Nursing team and Human Resources at the Community Health Directorate (CHD) of IHHN organized a session to acknowledge and appreciate the dedication and tireless efforts of all IHHN nursing staff. The session was held at the CHD office in Karachi, where CHD staff, including the family medicine team, attended in person, and all Primary Care Program sites were invited to join virtually. The Nursing Core team, including Sumera Akbar, Deputy Manager; Robert Siddique, Clinical Nurse Instructor; and Bilal Bakhtiyar, Assistant Head Nurse, presented and conducted a very notable discussion session among nurses and other CHD staff to raise awareness about the worth of this noble profession and highlighted some of the challenges faced by nursing professionals.
Through this event, participants were able to recognize the importance of nurses, their experiences, and their crucial efforts in supporting healthcare systems in Pakistan and around the world.
