IHHN Celebrates Inaugural Family Medicine Research Day 2023

The Department of Family Medicine (FM) at Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus, organized the Family Medicine Research Day for the first time on May 18, 2023. The event was held in commemoration of World Family Doctor Day. The event comprised of a Research Poster Presentation, and a Research Seminar “Clinical Research Made Easy: A Guide to Publish”. 

A Research Poster Presentation and competition which included research projects from Family medicine consultants, specialists, and residents. The FM department also invited research posters from residents of other medicine and allied disciplines. A total of 13 research posters were displayed, out of which nine were from the FM department. The remaining posters were from the Internal Medicine department of IHHN, Karachi.

The posters were judged by Dr. Naseem Salahuddin and Dr Faridah Amin. Dr. Aiman Mushir from the Pulmonology department was declared the winner. The first runner-up was the poster by Dr. Ihtasham and Dr. Hiba Ashraf, and the second runner-up was the poster presented by Dr. Rabbia Tariq and Dr. Mehwish Mehmood from the FM Department.

The Research Seminar “Clinical Research Made Easy: A Guide to Publish” included the following esteemed speakers, Dr. Owais Raza, Ph.D. Epidemiology, Assistant Professor DUHS, and Ms. Syyeda Reza, Manager Grants, ORIC, IHHN. Dr. Owais Raza gave a talk on “50 Shades of Research,” and Ms. Sayyeda enlightened the audience about “How to Publish a Manuscript”. The Panelists, Dr. Salman Imtiaz, and Dr. Saima Saeed, shared their views on challenges and barriers related to research in Pakistan.

The session ended with the certificate distribution by Dr. Hiba Ashraf and Dr. Nida Ilyas Shamsi to the organizing team for the event, which included Dr. AIesha Faisal, Dr. Jawed Habib, Dr. Safdar Raza, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, and Dr. Muhammad Saleem.
