IHHN Organizes COVID-19 Clinical Trials Awareness Session
The Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization at IHHN organized a Clinical Trial Awareness Session for the treatment of COVID-19 on November 2, 2023, at IHHN, Korangi Campus. Clinical trials are a crucial component for the advancement of treatment options and vaccines for any particular disease.
Dr. Ammad Fahim, Director, Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC), shared his extensive expertise and discussed the vital role of conducting trials in Pakistan to advance the nation’s healthcare system. Dr. Saima Saeed, Director, Lung Health Program, IHHN, and a key principal investigator of various clinical trials, spread awareness about the ongoing clinical trials of ORIC and also shared her valuable insight on the primary objectives, eligibility criteria, and hurdles that Pakistan is facing in that field.
The participants also asked questions from the session speakers on the significance of clinical trials in advancing the available treatment, development of new vaccines and drugs, and betterment of community health. The session successfully equipped the attendees with valuable insights on the history of healthcare trials in Pakistan, progression of clinical trials as an important phase of treatment and vaccine development research, and how IHHN with ongoing trials is contributing towards development of treatment options available in Pakistan.
