Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases Celebrates 67 Successful Transplants, Promotes Donor Awareness

Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases has achieved a significant milestone with 67 successful kidney transplants, marking a series of triumphs in renal transplantation. In a recent program aimed at raising awareness, transplant patients and their donors actively participated, sharing their experiences.

Promoting Transplant Awareness

The initiative involved a visit to the dialysis ward, where transplant recipients, donors, and the hospital’s medical team provided insights into kidney transplantation. Successful recipients highlighted that life after a kidney transplant is not only normal but also free from the constraints of dialysis.

The age range for kidney donors typically falls between 18 to 50 years, with both genders eligible to donate. Family members, particularly parents, siblings, and spouses, are preferred donors. In cases where immediate family members are not suitable, extended family members can also contribute. Post-donation, individuals experience minimal discomfort and can resume their daily activities.

Dr. Ali Imran Zaidi, the institution’s head, along with transplant nephrologist Dr. Naeem Salim, Dr. Rashid Asghar, Dr. Nauman Masood, and the transplant team, expressed gratitude to the donors at the program’s conclusion. The successful kidney transplantations underline the institute’s commitment to advancing healthcare in the field of renal care.
