CAT-C Mini Course Ignites Excellence: Indus Hospital and Emory University Elevate Trauma Care Paradigms at ICON-EM in Turkey

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Indus Hospital and Health Network, in collaboration with Emory University School of Medicine, organized a comprehensive ‘Collaborative Advanced Trauma (CAT-C) Mini Course’ during the 3rd International Congress on Emergency Medicine, “ICON-EM,” held in Antalya, Turkey, on November 7, 2023. Guided by Dr. Sama Mukhtar, Consultant in Emergency Medicine at IHHN, and Dr. Anna Q. Yaffee, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, the five-hour course focused on enhancing trauma care knowledge, patient care, and trauma leadership. The curriculum integrated didactic learning, hands-on procedural practice, simulations, and team-building activities.

Attended by over 30 emergency medical professionals, the course received positive feedback for its impactful content and engaging format. Following the course, Dr. Anna Q. Yaffee delivered a presentation on “Trauma Systems Development,” while Dr. Sama Mukhtar addressed “Pitfalls of Shock,” providing additional insights and expanding on the critical aspects of trauma management. The successful collaboration between the Indus Hospital and Health Network and Emory University School of Medicine underscored the commitment to advancing emergency medicine education on a global scale.
