How do I get to see a doctor at the Indus hospital?

The Indus Hospital is a paper free medical organization that follows a strict patient flow program, allowing maximum efficiency and smooth process flows with minimum possible bottle necks. Hence it is important that all patients follow the required “Patient-Flow-Program” which has been given as follows:

Following are the steps that a first time patient must follow when coming to the Indus Hospital:

Register at the reception desk to get an MR number. This MR number will be used as the patient identity number for recording the patient’s history, investigations, prescriptions, doctor’s comments etc. all patients must bring their MR numbers when making repeat visits.

The medical officer at the filter clinic will do the first examination. Patients are required to go to the filter clinic where a medical officer will make a preliminary medical examination and record his findings accordingly. He shall also inform the patient if he further needs to see a specialist or get any investigations done. All patients in the filter clinic are given number tokens and are seen on a first come first serve basis.

Get all prescribed investigations done. Once the patient is informed by the medical officer at the filter clinic of the tests he needs to get done, the patient must go either to the main hospital building or the collection points in the filter clinic to submit their samples for their recommended lab tests. All investigations are carried out on a first come first serve basis. No print outs or hardcopies of the results of the investigations are given to the patients as the above are automatically updated on the hospital data base and can be easily viewed by any doctor using the patient’s MR number.

Get an appointment for the Consultant clinic. The reception desk at the filter clinic will give appointments for the concerned consultant / specialist doctor as per the medical officer’s recommendations. The date and time of the appointment is booked as per the doctor’s availability and hence can result in long waits.

What is the purpose of visiting the filter clinic 1st?

These patients are either treated and sent home or further referred to a specialist.
